I've just had an ESR-750 delivered to Australia, and the guy at the transport company asked whether I had a permit to import. I said I didn't know what he was talking about and had no problems in the past with importing scooters. So now I have to fill out an application for approval to import a vehicle. Has anyone had any experience filling one of these out? Unfortunately because the scooter is > 200W I have to obtain a letter of compliance or get an Australian compliance plate fitted, even if I never intend to use this vehicle on the road.

WHAT ****. Contact PMW ASAP and inform them, we are being UNFAIRLY TARGETED. Contact a local IMPORT/EXPORT lawyer and check fees and and possibly route of contact. That 200W compliance can not be enforced on private property, demand it is for private use and tell them to SHOW you the legislation which is LEGALLY allowing them to hold an import.

I think I overlooked the "offroad vehicle/special vehicle" section of the "approval to import a vehicle" form. Did you ever fill out one of these forms MaSuPaXpEd? You should be able to get your scooter through since it was never designed for road usage. Once you get it through, if you wish to use it on the road you will need to bring it up to Australian Standards and fit it with plates. Anyway I'll let you know how things go.

A super x ped isnt designed for off road, and there is no way that it will EVER be braught to australian standereds and have plates fitted to it

Extreme Toys Australia imports scooters all the time, i wonder what boxes they tick, surely one can use the same import material they do??? Then again, Nic over there knows a thing or two about the lawrrrrrrr :)

Hi Guys, check your local custom whether or not you can buy the peds from overseas and send it in together with your luggage. Tell them it's for personal use when you declare it in the airport. I see many examples, they buy it here in Singapore and collect it by hand. Good price too!

I was wondering whether it would be possible to transfer ownership of the scooter to someone with a permit to import, say extreme toys aust, and then get them to send it over to me. They would be paid for their troubles of course. What do u think?

Also what of the possibility of reducing the power output of the motor via the eeprom controller?

If they try to, i am flying to sydney and i will demand the scooter. I spent to much money on getting it here, I F$%&#*ING HATE YOU JOHN HOWARD!!!!!!!!!

There needs to be a sticky thread here telling people that go-ped scooters can't be imported into the country due to the 200W power limitation. I did manage to get a super x-ped through some years ago, I was one of the lucky ones I guess.

If you got the chance, go to Singapore and get it there!
Call them up on availabilities & prices, prior to your visit!
Hand carry it back!
Check with your local customs!
Should be alright!
Dismentle if neccessory!
