SF ride, final analysis...

Three words can explain the turnout of the infamous SF ride. WET AND WILD! It is unbelievable to think that 112 pedders showed up rippin’ up the city of San Francisco. The forecast for the ride was a rainy one, yet people still showed up.
The ride started off with people slowly showing up at Pier 39 before 11AM. Around 11:30AM there were plenty of pedders gathered around. People from the Go-Ped Factory showed up which was great like Steve, Tim, Blaze, Keith, JASON… which was great seeing those folks showing their love for the sport. Tim brought a Go-Ped sized box full of shirts. We tried our best to get a shirt for everyone, but unfortunately they didn’t have 112 shirts.
We had our rider meeting, but our all star pedder Big John wasn’t present. I got word that his or his wife’s uncle is in the hospital and was unable to attend the ride. Our prayers went out to him and his presence was in us all through out the ride. The lead for the ride was Billy Foley (Mr. GoPed) I think he was trying to make up for the ride he flaked out on in San Jose …heh
12PM Gale’s (Chip) Geo Bigfoot with equipped AIR HORNS went of and the ride official started. We were off heading toward the Golden Gate. With in five minutes a kid with a Viza scooter breaks down, his motor apparently feel off. That was a bummer. Nothing any of us could do because we don’t have a Viza Scooter (yuck) We made a few stops on the way to the Golden Gate, people forgot how the ride works, the leader is supposed to stay in front, people aren’t supposed to be going in front of him. Billy made that perfectly clear when we stopped and no one else went in front of him afterwards. We made it to the golden gate and it was packed with pedders! Just about everyone person in a car, bike, bus, or trolley turned their head to see all the pedders that were on this ride.
We made our way along the coast with the great view of the Pacific Ocean. There was a lot of uphill and downhill action to get down to the beach. Once we got to the beach, Anthony LB, Tim P and Xam Gorringe, tore the beaches up with their super Bigfoot’s. Right when they headed out there, the rain started coming down. Man did that suck when it started raining! We made it to the Mc Donald’s and that’s when it stopped raining so people got food and we all ate outside. When we left, it started raining again!!! Everyone headed back to Pier 39 and there was a lot of downhill action. Billy Foley, Tim P, Anthony LB and many others were asphalt skiing downhill. They jumped off their Peds but still holding on to their handle bars and skiing!! It was crazy!
After all that downhill fun we had flat puddly flat ground. One guy was watching us and lost control and slid into a side of a bus. That was a bummer for the driver. On the embarcadero there were HECKA puddles and everyone was SOAKED. But our wet journey finally ended when we reached Pier 39, whew. I had a great time even though it was really wet. The turn out was great and we had a great time. People broke down and I’m glad their spirits weren’t down about it (RipperKLX) and it was great seeing A LOT of new and old faces. This ride is one to be remembered, the wettest and the wildest!
