Earthsurfer GSR40 and GSR40TSi Proflow Review

A few weeks ago, Doug from Earth Surfer asked me if I would do some testing for him, for the new GSR40 ProFlow manifold. I said "uhhhh, well, I don't know-------SURE!!" . I told him, "if I like it, I will do a review for it on GPN." I like it, so here is my review. I got the first one, matched by Doug, in the mail and checked it out. Just by looking at it, they appear to be they work on the G2D, G23LH, and G23Rc, G260Rc, HE23HP, and The HE26HP. But, the Port of The ProFlow has been raised, lowered and widened, to the GSR exhaust port specs.

Pipes I’m sure work are (with some info from Doug)

Pipes that fit.

ADA S2 Pipe (if being used on a GSR)
Engine Trix (if being used on a GSR)
PacSales Racer Pipe
The origional Pac Sales
ADA GSR Pipe
I think the new Engine Trix end bleed (when it comes out)
I think the new Meyer GSR pipe (when it comes out)

Pipes that may not fit. (not totally sure)

New Flow System GSR pipe
New Jetpro GSR pipe

Installation:
It was as easy as expected. If you’ve put a pipe u know how to install an exhaust Manifold. Its was just as easy as installing it on the 22.5cc to 25.4cc Engines.

Leaks:
Mine was a little leaky. The ProFlow is made a bit big so some pipes fit pretty tight and some pipes fit a bit loosly. I think my pipe is one that fits loosly. I tried a piece of pipe wrap. That didn't work as good as I hoped it would. Doug told me to try "Ultra black", made by Permatex, because he says it works the best. It worked much better, but it still leaked a bit after a while.

Performance:
At First I think I felt a little difference, then I retuned my Carb. On flat area, with my TSi on 8/76 and a PacSales Racer Pipe and NO Reed, I could feel it pull a little bit harder and cleaner on low end. After I was hitting 35 ish I could still feel more power than before the Regular PacSales Pipe Manifold. Top end I didn’t see much difference but, it didn't lose any either. Maybe, after riding it around for a bit and fully tuning my carb and maybe do some hill climb testing, I will notice more on top end. Overall, the ProFlow added some power through a pretty big spread of RPM's with my pipe. I know like it, and I am going to use it for a long time.

Pros:

Better Performance!

Looks very trick!

Well made, and great match on the cylinder!

It's a bolt On! No more than 10 Minutes to take off the pipe and manifold, Install Proflow and re bolt on pipe.

Fits most pipes for those of you guys who have more than one pipe.

Cons:
It tends to leak a bit. Use the "Utra Black"

With Ultra Black it needs to be applied then wipe out all uneven beads so its smooth. Let it cure for 20-24 Hours. If u live in areas where it gets into the Single Digit degrees at night and only 40 in the day in winter u want to let it cure for about 30-36 hours for best results.

TGN Will be Stocking the new GSR ProFlow very soon. Ask TGN or your TGN dealer to get you one.

its a failure... who wants all the leakage for only a tiny bit of performance gain? just dremel out the inside of your stock manfiold.... you really dont need it for gsrs.... however the proflows for RC's are excellent, it leaks like crazy on my SXP but it added more then just some power gains like u said, i had better top speed, stronger powerbands, and increased low end performance.

The pipe slides into the ProFlow manifold.---Use Permatex "Ultra Black" between the wall of the pipe and the wall of the manifold where they slide together. I redseigned the manifold a bit. If you clean the surfaces well, you can totally stop all leaks with the new design. Don't worry about getting a bit to much Ultra Black in there. If it beads up inside the pipe, the exhaust gasses will burn out the bead that may be sticking into the exhaust flow.
